Techy and Savvvvvvvyyyy

October 31, 2007

Our school has gone from… lamo-website-o to TECHY AND SAVVVYYY looking. Our administrators etc. are currently using WORDPRESS to create our school website. WHAT A SHOCK!! But i can’t stalk them… and sign in.. :/

blah. my brain MUST be going awry. I can’t think no more.

I liked this article. The author wrote that while many children have this innate ability to memorize information, such as countries and states, this quality is not being a real prodigy. While all the adults are dumbfounded by these childrens’ abilities, the true test of intelligence is digging deeper into concepts; people such as Mozart, who composed his first symphony at the tender age of 5, or Tiger Woods, who shot a 48 on a nine-hole course at age 2 are real prodigies.

But what really struck me as most important was this quote…
“Experts say it’s important for children to learn that it’s not looks or brains that really matter. It’s what you do with your talent that’s important.”

Many times, I’ve been told this by my mom, but how many times does it take before I finally believe her? I can have as much intelligence in the world, but if I don’t use that intelligence, or talent, that God has given me, it won’t do anything to me. I think reading these types of articles through the years is what really inspired me to work harder last year. I finally realized that regardless of how smart I am, I still have to put forth effort. What I do with the talent that I’ve been given is what really matters.

Frying Pan, Anyone?

My brain is FRIED after a day of school. I only got three hours–count ‘em ONE, TWO, THREE hours of sleep last night. I had…
2nd Period–100 question multiple choice test
3rd Period–Spanish vocab test
5th Period–Free Response Econ test
6th period–AP Lit essay.

ARUGH.

Then, there’s SATs to study for… and it doesn’t end!! Tomorrow is part two of both Bio and Econ. In bio, we’re gonna be writing two essays and in econ is a 50 question MC test.

*sigh*
